Ismene wins Santa Anita feature
October 22, 2011ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Front-running Ismene beat 1-5 favorite Sister Moon by a length Saturday in the $80,600 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Patrick Valenzuela, Ismene ran six furlongs in 1:08.91 and paid $16.40, $3.60 and $2.40.
Sister Moon returned $2.10, and Evelyn's Dancer and paid $5.20 to show.
Sister Moon broke awkwardly before making a swooping move from fifth to take aim on Ismene, the 7-1 third choice, but fell short.
The victory, worth $52,830, increased Ismene's two-race career total to $90,630.
