Summer Movie wins Santa Anita feature
October 20, 2011ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Summer Movie defeated Kate's Event to win the $54,060 Buffalo Feature by a neck and end a nine-race losing streak at Santa Anita on Thursday.
Ridden by Agapito Delgadillo, Summer Movie ran 1 1-16 miles in 1:41.52 and paid $10.40, $5.80 and $3.
Kate's Event returned $3.80 and $2.60, while 19-10 favorite Racing Aptitude was another 8 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $2.60 to show in his California debut for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert.
Summer Movie, a 4-year-old son of Holy Bull owned by movie theater magnate George Krikorian, had never run on dirt before.
The victory, worth $30,600, increased Summer Movie's career earnings to $132,860, with three wins in 14 starts.
