Atta Boy Roy wins at Santa Anita
October 21, 2011ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Atta Boy Roy edged Matto Mondo by a nose to win the $53,900 feature at Santa Anita on Friday, giving him his first win at the track after three losses.
Ridden by Daniel Vergara, Atta Boy Roy ran one mile in 1:35.09 and paid $8.80 and $4. Matto Mondo returned $3.60. Shediak was another 25 1/4 lengths back in third. There was no show wagering because of the small field of four.
Atta Boy Roy withstood a steward's inquiry to earn his 13th career victory in 30 starts. The win, worth $33,000, increased his career earnings to $579,580.
