Elusive Pearl wins Belmont's $100K Pebbles Stakes
October 10, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Elusive Pearl won the $100,000 Pebbles Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on Monday, beating Hessonite by 2 1/4 lengths on the turf at Belmont Park.
In charge right from the start, Elusive Pearl held a comfortable lead throughout and led by five lengths at the top of the lane.
Ridden Ramon Dominguez and trained by Michael Trombetta, Elusive Pearl ran the one mile over the firm course in 1:36.61 for her fourth win in seven starts.
The 2-1 favorite, Elusive Pearl paid $6.10, $4 and $2.90. Hessonite returned $9.40 and $6.80. My Redbyrd earned $4.40 to show.
