Roman Treasure wins Belmont's Positive Gal Stakes
September 23, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Roman Treasure romped to an eight-length victory in the slop on Friday in the $57,000 Positive Gal Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Belmont Park.
The field scratched down to only four runners in the rain. Roman Treasure, with Ramon Dominguez aboard for trainer Mike Hushion, overcame a hard bump at the start to earn her fourth win in nine starts. The time was 1:11.16 for six furlongs.
Roman Treasure, 4-5 favorite, paid $3.90 and $2.20. Maple Forest was second, returning $2.40. Moonlit Malibu got third, followed by Tap for Luck.
There was no show betting.
