Go Unbridled wins Belmont's Hettinger Stakes
September 25, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Go Unbridled rallied to beat Spa City Princess by 11/2 lengths in the $100,000 John Hettinger Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares at Belmont Park on Sunday.
Trailing for most of the race, Go Unbridled kicked home with a four-wide sweep for her third win in 14 starts. The 4-year-old trained by Hall of Famer Allen Jerkens and ridden by Ramon Dominguez ran the 1 1-8 miles in 1:51.33.
Go Unbridled paid $7.50, $4.30 and $2.60. Spa City Princess returned $4.40 and $3 while Rogue's Jewel paid $2.90 to show.
The Hettinger, originally scheduled for the turf, was shifted to the main track following recent heavy rain.
