Top Surprize wins Belmont's Summing Stakes
September 16, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Top Surprize beat Adirondack Summer by 31/4 lengths on Friday in the $60,000 Summing Stakes for 3-year-olds on the turf at Belmont Park.
Javier Castellano was aboard for trainer Naipaul Chatterpaul as Top Surprize rallied from last in the six-horse field to earn his fifth win in 10 starts. The time was 1:35.89 for the one mile on the firm coarse.
Top Surprize, sent off at 8-1, paid $18, $7.10 and $3.50. Adirondack Summer, the 8-5 favorite, returned $3.40 while Wilkinson paid $3 to show.
