Compliance Offices wins Belmont's Cole Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) - Compliance Officer extended his winning streak to four with a decisive victory Sunday in the $100,000 Ashley T. Cole Stakes for New York breds on the turf at Belmont Park.

The 5-year-old gelding, ridden by Alex Solis and trained by Bruce Brown, pulled away to a 3 1/2-length win over Pocket Cowboys as the 9-5 favorite. It was Compliance Officer's eighth win in 21 career starts. The time was 1:51.50 for the 1 1-8 miles over the course labeled good.

Compliance Officer paid $5.80, $3.40 and $2.70. Pocket Cowboys returned $4.10 and $3, and Minnie Punt paid $4 to show.
