Private Affair wins CTT-TOC Handicap at Del Mar
August 26, 2011DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) - Private Affair rallied to win the $90,290 CTT-TOC Handicap for older fillies and mares by 21/2 lengths Friday in her U.S. debut at Del Mar.
Ridden by Hector Berrios, Private Affair ran 1 3-8 miles on the turf in 2:13.52 and paid $20, $9 and $5 at 9-1 odds. The Peru-bred filly arrived in the U.S. five months ago after competing in Argentina.
Suzettes Friend returned $24.20 and $8, while Mutually Benefit was another 11/4 lengths back in third and paid $3.60 to show as the 5-2 favorite.
The victory, worth $54,174, was the third in nine career starts for Private Affair.
