Eltish Star wins the Belmont feature
July 10, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Eltish Star and jockey Ramon Dominguez pulled off an upset Sunday in the $53,000 allowance feature at Belmont Park, beating Mineswept by 11/4 lengths.
The longest shot in the six-horse field at 9-1, Eltish Star rallied from last for his seventh win in 56 starts. The 6-year-old gelding paid $21.40, $6.20 and $3.90 as he ran the one mile in 1:36.86 for trainer Paulino Ortiz.
Mineswept returned $3.20 and $2.60 while Sam Sparkle paid $2.80 to show.
