Rattlesnake Bridge wins Monmouth Feature
July 9, 2011OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Rattlesnake Bridge ran past All of the Above in the closing strides to win by a nose in the $150,000 Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
Ridden by Eddie Castro and trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, the 3-year-old colt ran the 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:41 3/5 and paid $4.40, $3 and $2.80. It was the second win in five career starts for Rattlesnake Bridge, who has earned $153,200.
The win was McLaughlin's fourth on the day, tying a track record for most wins on a single card.
In the co-feature, Sayif scored a wire-to-wire in the $75,000 Battlefield Stakes, beating Yummy With Butter by a length.
Trained by Patrick Biancone and ridden by Channing Hill, Sayif ran the mile over a yielding turf course in 1:34 2/5 and returned $28.40, $12.20 and $4.80.
