Bank Merger wins the Belmont feature
July 8, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Bank Merger and jockey Alan Garcia splashed to a six-length win in the slop over Just Hold On in the $53,200 allowance feature on Friday at Belmont Park.
It was a successful return to the U.S. for the 4-year-old after two races in Dubai. Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, Bank Merger improved to 4 for 7. The time was 1:17.46 for the 6 1/2 furlongs.
Bank Merger paid $4.40 and $3 as the 6-5 favorite. Just Hold On returned $2.90, with Delaunay third in the four-horse field. There was no show wagering.
