Smokin Hero wins Belmont's Noble Nashua Stakes
June 19, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Smokin Hero nipped the front-running Spa City Fever by a head Sunday in the $60,000 Noble Nashua Stakes for New York breds at Belmont Park.
Alan Garcia guided the 5-year-old gelding to his eighth win in 27 starts for trainer Chris Englehart. The 8-1 shot ran a mile in 1:36.19.
Smokin Hero paid $18.80, $7.30 and $3.50. Spa City Fever returned $5.10 and $2.70, and Johannesburg Smile paid $2.30 to show.
