LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Plutonium took the lead at the top of the stretch, then held off Adulare by 11/2 lengths Sunday in the $64,725 feature race at Churchill Downs.

Plutonium, the 4-year-old son of 2001 Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos, ran 1-1-16 miles on the main track in 1:44.83. The race was originally scheduled for the Matt Winn Turf Course, but was moved to the main track after morning showers forced all races to be taken off the turf.

Plutonium, ridden by Julien Leparoux, paid $25.80, $9.80 and $4.80. Adulare returned $12.40 and $5.40, and Sporty paid $3.80.

Plutonium, owned by Diane Garland and Sondra Mayne, earned $39,120 to increase his bankroll to $119,880 with a record of 5-3-0 in 16 career starts.
