HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The longtime race caller at Oaklawn Park says he's leaving the announcer booth.

Terry Wallace announced Thursday that he will retire before the next racing season at Oaklawn begins in January. He will continue working in other roles at the track in Hot Springs.

Wallace has called races at Oaklawn Park for 37 years.

Both Wallace's voice and face have become familiar to racing fans, as he has been Oaklawn's main spokesman for several years.

Oaklawn president Charles Cella (SELL'-uh) said Wallace would be remembered for his enthusiasm which helped make horse racing popular in Arkansas.

Track officials say they'll begin a search for a new announcer.
