2-year-old Majestic City romps at Hollywood Park
June 12, 2011INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Overwhelming favorite Majestic City was never challenged by his four fellow 2-year-olds in an easy victory Sunday in the $78,470 Willard L. Proctor Memorial Stakes.
Ridden by David Flores for trainer Peter Miller, Majestic City ran straight to a two-length lead out of the gate in the stakes for early-career colts, increased the lead to four lengths on the turn and breezed to a 3 1/2-length win over long shot Truco Latino, covering 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04.16.
The winner paid $2.40, $2.10 and $2.10. Truco Latino paid $6.40 and $3.20. Joyzey Billy was third and returned $3 to show.
A Kentucky-bred son of City Zip owned by Majestic Racing Stable, Majestic City has won both his lifetime starts and earned $75,570.
