NEW YORK (AP) - Rose Catherine, the 4-5 favorite, held off Sea Road by a half length Wednesday in the $60,000 Nonsuch Bay Stakes for fillies and mares on the turf at Belmont Park.

John Velazquez, who rides Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom in Saturday's Belmont Stakes, guided Rose Catherine to her seventh win in 16 starts. The 4-year-old trained by Todd Pletcher ran the six furlongs in 1:08.74.

Rose Catherine paid $3.60, $2.70 and $2.10. Sea Road returned $4.40 and $3 while Becky's Exchange paid $2.80 to show.
