McPeek wins with Noble's Promise, Salty Strike
June 4, 2011LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Trainer Ken McPeek scored back-to-back victories Saturday at Churchill Downs as filly Salty Strike easily won the Dogwood Stakes and Noble's Promise took the Aristides Stakes.
Salty Strike, ridden by Manoel Cruz, covered the mile in 1:35.39 and paid $12.80, $4.80 and $3.20. The easy victory over Fantasy of Flight by 3 3/4 lengths and Gran Lioness was the horse's third win in seven starts with all coming on the main track at Churchill Downs.
Fantasy of Flight paid $4.60 and $3.20. Gran Lioness paid $3.60.
Noble's Promise, ridden by Alan Garcia, traveled six furlongs in 1:08.74 to give McPeek his second win. He held off Atta Boy Roy and Capt. Candyman Can to win by a length in the $110,000 Aristides Stakes, paying $5.20, $3.60 and $2.40.
Atta Boy Roy paid $11 and $5.40 and Capt. Candyman Can paid $2.40.
