Hilda's Passion wins Belmont's Vagrancy Handicap
June 4, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Hilda's Passion, the 2-5 favorite, romped to a 51/4-length win Saturday in the $147,000 Vagrancy Handicap for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.
Quickly recovering from a stumble at the break, Hilda's Passion charged right to the front and was in command throughout for trainer Todd Pletcher. The 4-year-old improved to 7 for 12 with her fifth stakes win. The time was 1:14.81 for the 61/2 furlongs.
Hilda's Passion paid $2.90, $2.40 and $2.10 under jockey Javier Castellano. Curlina, $9.60 and $4.70 got second as the longest shot in the race at 29-1. Tidal Pool paid $2.90 to show.
