Shackleford bobbled at the break, quickly recovered and relaxed nicely to prompt the pace outside Flashpoint, moved to command nearing the five sixteenths marker, edged clear into the lane, turned back and inside challenge from Astrology nearing the eighth pole, kicked back clear soon after, switched to his left lead late then dug in under strong handling to prevail over Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom broke slowly then was allowed to settle well back off a quick and contested pace, commenced his run leaving the far turn, worked his way out to the five path into the stretch, closed gamely and was steadily getting to the winner. Astrology rated towards the inside and just off the dueling leaders, waited briefly nearing the quarter pole,eased out and moved between rivals into the lane, shifted back to the rail to threaten the winner in upper stretch then could not sustain through the final seventy yards. Dialed In, brushed at the break, steadied when in close soon after, lagged back for seven furlongs, bumped with Norman Asbjornson when angling out for room nearing the stretch, recovered and closed belatedly between rivals in the final furlong. Dance City, fractious in the gate, stalked the pace four wide, steadily advanced to a striking position mid way on the final turn, continued four wide into the stretch then lacked a further response. Mucho Macho Man broke outward and brushed with Dialed In, steadied when put in tight past the mile marker, angled out four wide into the backstretch, moved up between rivals past the five eighths pole, came under a solid ride five wide leaving the three furlong marker then failed to generate the needed stretch kick. King Congie, in close early, saved ground advancing past the half mile marker, angled out three wide and made a decent move into the lane then could not sustain. Mr. Commons, reluctant to load, broke outward then was taken to rate, moved up in hand two wide between rivals nearing the half mile marker, angled four wide continuing his run nearing the stretch then flattened out. Isn't He Perfect bobbled at the break, came in near the mile marker crowding rivals, settled outside into the backstretch, dropped in towards the rail for the run around the final turn, angled out in upper stretch, shifted back in making a slight advance then went evenly in the final furlong. Concealed Identity, in striking distance five wide down the backstretch, was put to a solid drive into the far turn, failed to respond and gradually gave way. Norman Asbjornson was angled off the rail past the three quarter pole, moved closer between rivals near the half mile marker, steadied when in close near the quarter pole, bumped with Dialed In soon after then faded. Sway Away steadied when in close at the break, was a bit rank early, lacked speed, angled out and bumped Midnite Interlude in uppper stretch then failed to rally. Midnight Interlude stalked the pace three wide, was put to a drive between rivals three furlongs out, failed to keep pace, gave way readily entering the stretch then bumped with Isn't He Perfect. Flashpoint broke alertly, maintained a narrow advantage inside the winner through solid fractions, was overtaken nearing the five sixteenths pole then stopped in upper stretch.
