Savvy Supreme wins Belmont's Classy Mirage
May 18, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Savvy Supreme, the 1-5 favorite, beat Soundwave by a half length Wednesday in the $60,000 Classy Mirage Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Belmont Park.
Breaking slower than usual, Savvy Supreme and jockey John Velazquez moved into contention with a three-wide move on the turn. She continued the rally down the center of the track for her second win in three starts. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Savvy Supreme ran the six furlongs in 1:11.30 over the track rated good.
She paid $2.70, $2.30 and $2.10. Soundwave returned $4.60 and $2.30 while Indian Lilly paid $5 to show.
