Much Rejoicing wins Belmont's Glia Stakes
May 13, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Much Rejoicing rallied to beat Strike the Bell by 11/4 lengths on Friday in the $60,000 Glia Stakes for fillies and mares on the turf at Belmont Park.
Overcoming a hard bump at the start, Much Rejoicing went on to secure her first stakes win, and fourth victory in eight starts. The 4-year-old ridden by Alan Garcia for trainer James Toner ran the six furlongs in 1:08.44 over the firm course.
Much Rejoicing paid $8, $4.40 and $3.70. Strike the Bell returned $3.80 and $3 while Sea Road, $3.80, was third.
