Right One, Arch Traveler win stakes at Belmont
May 12, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Right One and Arch Traveler won $60,000 stakes on Thursday at Belmont Park.
Right One captured the Island Sun on the turf for a second straight win since arriving from France. The 5-year-old gelding, ridden by Rajiv Maragh and trained by Christophe Clement, improved to 4 for 18 in his career. He paid $4.60 to win as 6-5 favorite.
The time for the one mile was 1:33.41.
Arch Traveler bounced back from a sixth-place finish in the Florida Derby to win the Ziggy's Boy for 3-year-old colts. He is now 3 for 6 for the team of jockey Jose Lezcano and trainer Jimmy Jerkens. The 4-5 favorite paid $3.80 to win.
He ran the seven furlongs in 1:21.87.
