Animal Kingdom settles in at Maryland home
May 11, 2011ELKTON, Md. (AP) - Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom has settled into his new stall in Maryland, where he will reside until coming to Pimilco Race Course for the Preakness.
Animal Kingdom got some exercise on the track at Fair Hill on Wednesday. The horse jogged and appeared comfortable in his surroundings.
Life has been tougher for trainer Graham Motion, who says he's ``trying to get back to normal.'' But nothing will ever be the same for Motion, who now faces the pressure of trying to guide Animal Kingdom to horse racing's first Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978.
In other news, beaten Derby favorite Dialed In returned to the track at Churchill Downs on Wednesday and jogged once around the track. Trainer Nick Zito says the horse, who finished eighth last Saturday, ``came out of the race in good shape.''
