Ice Machine wins Dexter Cup at Freehold
May 7, 2011FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - Ice Machine took the lead on the final turn and held off Marcus Bi to win by 1 1/4 lengths in the $156,000 Dexter Cup for 3-year-old trotters at Freehold Raceway on Saturday.
David Miller guided Ice Machine over the mile in 1:57.3 to win the early test leading up to the Hambletonian. Miller also won last year's Dexter Cup with Flex The Muscle.
Trained by Charlie Norris and owned by Bob Key, Ice Machine was one of six Dexter entrants eligible for the Hambletonian. He has now won five of 13 career starts and has earned $126,076.
