Big Brownie wins Belmont's Cupid's Way Stakes
May 4, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Big Brownie rallied in the slop for a half-length win over Devilish Spirit in the $60,000 Cupid's Way Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares at Belmont Park.
A 5-year-old trained by Leah Gyarmati, Big Brownie ran the seven furlongs in 1:24.29 with Eddie Castro aboard. She paid $24.40, $8.50 and $4.80 for her fourth win in 18 starts.
Devilish Spirit returned $10.60 and $5.70. Spa City Princess paid $4.60 to show.
