Uncle Mo is a go for Kentucky Derby
May 1, 2011LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Uncle Mo looks good to go for the Kentucky Derby.
The 3-year-old colt worked five furlongs at muddy Churchill Downs on Sunday, and owner Mike Repole says his star should be the favorite in next Saturday's Run for the Roses.
Uncle Mo covered the distance with stablemate Stay Thirsty in 1:01.60. Trainer Todd Pletcher called the workout ``textbook'' and says the horse is recovering well from a gastrointestinal infection that resulted in a third-place finish in the Wood Memorial on April 9.
Repole says Uncle Mo hardly looks like the same horse that shipped from New York almost two weeks ago and believes the once-beaten colt should be the top betting choice when the 20-horse field is set Wednesday.
Uncle Mo dominated the last time he ran under the twin spires, winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile last November.
