Keertana comes from behind to win Bewitch
April 28, 2011LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Keertana took the lead inside the eighth pole and raced to a 11/4-length win Thursday in the Grade III $150,000 Grey Goose Bewitch at Keeneland.
The 5-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Johar, ridden by Jose Lezcano, settled near the back of seven older fillies and mares but charged on the outside racing six wide around the final turn to overtake Honimiere.
Keertana, the 2-1 favorite, paid $6.40, $3.60 and $3. My Baby Boy rallied from last on the inside to finish second and returned $7.40 and $4.20, while Honimiere was length back and paid $4.60.
The winner, owned by Barbara Hunter, earned $90,000, increasing her career total to $914,371 with 10 wins in 25 starts.
