Stormy's Majesty wins Big A's Noble Nashua Stakes
April 22, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Stormy's Majesty, the 3-5 favorite, won his season debut on Friday, beating Mine Over Matter by 11/4 lengths in the $60,000 Noble Nashua Stakes for New York-breds.
A chestnut colt, Stormy's Majesty made his first start since missing by a head in the Grade 3 Queens County Stakes here in December. Now 4, Stormy's Majesty won $182,732 last year with stakes wins in the Albany at Saratoga and Discovery Handicap at Aqueduct.
Edgar Prado was aboard as Stormy's Majesty ran the one mile in 1:36.21, paying $3.40, $2.40 and $2.10. Mine Over Matter returned $2.80 and $2.30. Johannesburg Smile, $3.10, got the show spot to give trainer Dominic Galluscio a 1-3 finish in the stakes. His two entrants were uncoupled in the betting.
