Nacarat beats Denman at Aintree
April 7, 2011LIVERPOOL, England (AP) - Nacarat took advantage of a disappointing run by former Gold Cup winner Denman to power to victory in the Totesport Bowl Chase at Aintree on Thursday.
The 11-year-old Denman started out as the 5-4 favorite but couldn't cope with the pace of 7-2 shot Nacarat, who led from the front to ease to a convincing success in the Grade One race.
Denman trailed home fifth, denying trainer Paul Nicholls and jockey Ruby Walsh a third successive win on the opening day of the Liverpool meeting.
Walsh rode a solid race to guide 4-6 favorite Big Buck's to a stylish victory in the Liverpool Hurdle, maintaining the horse's unbeaten record over hurdles.
The Nicholls-Walsh combination celebrated Zarkandar's win in the Novice's Hurdle.
