Watch Me Go tops 12-horse field for Illinois Derby
April 6, 2011STICKNEY, Ill. (AP) - Tampa Bay Derby winner Watch Me Go tops a field of 12 3-year-olds entered for Saturday's $300,000 Illinois Derby at Hawthorne Race Course.
The colt trained by Kathleen O'Connell was made the 7-2 favorite for the Grade 3, 1 1-16-mile race, a final prep for the Kentucky Derby on May 7.
Watch Me Go has won four of nine starts for owner Gilbert Campbell, and will be ridden by Luis Garcia. He was given the No. 4 post in Wednesday's draw.
El Grayling is the second choice at 9-2, with The Fed Eased at 5-1 and Joe Vann and Sour both 6-1.
Also entered are Lagoon Of Diamonds (15-1), Smarter Than Ever (15-1), Vouch For Victory (15-1), Zoebear (10-1), Roman Flame (30-1), Southern Sculptor (12-1) and Future Empire (30-1).
