DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - Kinsale King was scratched from his Dubai Golden Shaheen title defense Saturday because of an allergic reaction.

Trainer Carl O'Callaghan says the 6-year-old horse developed swelling in his legs and hives on his body and face, prompting the decision to remove him from the $2 million race Saturday.

O'Callaghan says the cause of the allergic reaction is unclear.

Kinsale King gave O'Callaghan his biggest victory by upsetting favorite Rocket Man last year.
