Devilish Spirit wins Big A feature
March 24, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Devilish Spirit, the 4-5 favorite, held off Saratoga Fling by a neck Thursday in the $44,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
David Cohen was aboard for trainer Bruce Brown as the 4-year-old got her fourth win in seven starts. The drying-out track, sloppy at the start of the day, was upgraded to good by the feature. The time was 1:11.97 for the six furlongs.
Eddie Castro, the rider of Saratoga Fling, claimed foul against the winner for contact in the lane. The stewards dismissed the objection following a video review.
Devilish Spirit paid $3.90, $2.30 and $2.10. Saratoga Fling returned $2.70 and $2.20. Cautionary Tale paid $3.90 to show.
