Kid Kate wins Big A's Correction Stakes
January 29, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Kid Kate rallied to beat Meese Rocks by a neck Saturday in the $65,000 Correction Stakes for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
After sitting a relaxed fourth through the opening half mile, Kid Kate kicked into gear for Ramon Dominguez as the field turned for home. The 4-year-old closed relentlessly to reel in Meese Rocks who had taken the lead at the top of the lane.
Trained by Chad Brown, Kid Kate got her fifth win in 10 starts. The time was 1:10.30 for the six furlongs on the track rated good.
Kid Kate paid $4.90, $2.80 and $2.10 as the 7-5 second choice. Meese Rocks, favored at 6-5, returned $2.60 and $2.40. Purrfect Bluff paid $3 to show.
