Be Bullish wins Big A's Hollie Hughes
February 21, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Be Bullish, making his first start for trainer Rick Dutrow, beat Smokin Hero by 13/4 lengths Monday in the $63,700 Hollie Hughes Stakes for New York breds at Aqueduct.
Claimed for $75,000 from his previous race, Be Bullish split rivals at the top of the stretch to get his eighth win in 46 starts. Junior Alvarado was aboard as the gray 6-year-old gelding ran the six furlongs in 1:11.62 on the fast track.
Be Bullish paid $6.20, $3.10 and $2.70. Smokin Hero returned $3.80 and $2.40. Heavenly Blaze, the longest shot at 22-1, paid $3.50 to show.
