Regally Ready wins Santa Anita's Born to Run Purse
February 4, 2011ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Regally Ready easily won the $68,800 Born to Run Purse on Friday, beating Gallant Son by 31/4 lengths on Santa Anita's downhill turf course.
A 4-year-old gelding ridden by Corey Nakatani, the favorite Regally Ready overcame a foul claim from jockey Patrick Valenzuela and fourth-place finisher Sayif for his fourth victory in 10 starts, covering 61/2 lengths in 1:12.62.
Regally Ready paid $5, $3.40 and $3.20. Gallant Son returned $4.40 and $4.20. Rendezvous was third and paid $6 to show.
It was the second start for Regally Ready over the distinctive downhill layout at Santa Anita. He finished third in last month's Grade 3 Daytona Stakes.
Regally Ready earned $40,800 for the victory, taking his career total to $190,488.
