Deputy Daney wins Big A's Always Run Lucky Stakes
February 13, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Deputy Daney held off Temecula Creek, the 3-5 favorite, by 11/4 lengths Sunday to capture the $58,800 Always Run Lucky Stakes at Aqueduct.
The 4-year-old gelding shot right to the front with Sheldon Russell aboard, opening up a six-length lead. Deputy Daney was all-out in deep stretch to secure his fifth win in 10 starts, paying $7.20, $3.70 and $2.10. Temecula Creek returned $2.50 and $2.10. Independence War paid $2.10 to show.
The time was 1:09.84 for the six furlongs on the fast track.
