Flashpoint pulls away to win Hutcheson Stakes
February 26, 2011HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Flashpoint pulled away from Travelin Man down the stretch Saturday to win the $150,000 Hutcheson Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Trained by Richard Dutrow Jr. and ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, the gray son of Pomeroy covered the seven furlongs in 1:22.03 to win by 7 1/4 lengths.
Travelin Man finished seconds while Lilttle Drama was another three lengths back in third.
Dutrow called the performance ``sensational,'' and he's hoping to point the colt toward the Florida Derby and then, perhaps, the Kentucky Derby down the line.
