Always a Princess wins La Canada Stakes
February 13, 2011ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Trainer Bob Baffert's Always a Princess won another duel with rival and favorite Blind Luck, this time in the $150,000 La Canada Stakes for 4-year-old fillies at Santa Anita.
Just as she had in the El Encino Stakes on Jan. 16, Always a Princess with Martin Garcia aboard went straight to the lead and never yielded, stretching her lead to 3 1/4 lengths in front of Blind Luck by the wire and covering 1 1-8 miles on dirt in 1:48.36.
Always a Princess paid $4.40 and $2.40. Blind Luck paid $2.20.
Harmonious was third and Life Well Lived last in Sunday's field of four. There was no show wagering because of the small group.
Always a Princess has won five times in nine starts and earned $576,048.
