Penn National Gaming buys closed Rosecroft Raceway
January 28, 2011ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Penn National Gaming Inc. has submitted a winning bid of $10.25 million for the shuttered Rosecraft Raceway harness-racing track in Maryland.
A lawyer for the company said Friday that it would pay an additional $3 million for the track if it gets a bond from the state to reopen and reinvest in the track.
The sale needs to be approved by a bankruptcy judge and a hearing is scheduled Wednesday. The company says its long-term goal is to offer slot machines at the facility, which closed last year after operating for a time as a pari-mutuel betting site without live racing.
