NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Wilkinson beat Pants on Fire by a head Saturday in the $100,000 Lecomte Stakes, the Fair Grounds' first Kentucky Derby prep of the season.

Wilkinson, trained by Neil Howard and ridden by Garrett Gomez, ran a mile and 40 yards in 1:40.97 and paid $8, $3.40 and $4.60 for his second career victory. Owned by Ed Gaylord's Gaillardia Racing, the son of Lemon Drop Kid also won Dec. 10 at the Fair Grounds.

Pants On Fire returned $3.20 and $4.80, and Action Ready paid $6.20 to show.
