Poetfromthepulpit brings top price at Keeneland
January 14, 2011LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Poetfromthepulpit has brought the top price of $40,000 during the final session of Keeneland's January Horses of All Ages Sale.
The 3-year-old Pulpit filly out of the stakes-placed King of Kings mare Kivi was offered as a racing or broodmare prospect. She was consigned by Vinery Ltd., as agent, and purchased Friday by Carlos S.E. Moore, as agent.
Totals for the day were 172 horses selling for $895,500, an average of $5,206, compared with last year's final session, when 166 horses sold for $1,095,900, an average of $6,602.
For the five-day auction, 1,021 horses brought $25,250,350, an average of $24,731, up from the 2010 totals, when 982 horses sold for $23,895,100, an average of $24,333.
