Ridden by Joe Talamo, Aggie Engineer took the lead coming out of the second turn and pulled away for his third straight victory and second straight stakes, covering 1 1-16 miles in 1:40.94.

A 6-year-old gelding trained by Paddy Gallagher, Aggie Engineer was coming off a victory in the Dec. 4 Native Diver Handicap at Hollywood Park. The San Pasqual is normally a prep for the Santa Anita Handicap, but Gallagher wouldn't say whether he was pointing Aggie Engineer to the March 5 race.
Aggie Engineer earned $90,000 for his seventh victory in 17 starts to push his career total to $358,280.
