Dominguez takes 2010 riding title in New York
January 1, 2011NEW YORK (AP) - Ramon Dominguez has finished the year as New York's leading jockey, with nearly twice as many victories as runner-up David Cohen.
Dominguez closed 2010 with four winners at Aqueduct Racetrack on Friday, giving him 353 wins at New York tracks. Cohen had 180.
Dominguez's biggest wins came in the Jockey Club Gold Cup with Haynesfield and the Man o'War with Gio Ponti. The 34-year-old rider led the nation in jockey earnings for the first time with $16,911,880 in purses.
Todd Pletcher topped the New York Racing Association's trainer standings for the first time since 2004, beating Gary Contessa 120-86. Pletcher also led the nation in earnings with $23,157,098.
Michael Dubb won his first title as New York's leading owner, 50-49 over Repole Stable.
