Muhaawara wins Big A's Sky Beauty
December 17, 2010NEW YORK (AP) - Muhaawara beat Check Point by three quarters of a length Thursday in the $60,000 Sky Beauty Stakes for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
The lone 3-year-old in the field, Muhaawara won her first stakes race and improve to 3 for 12 in her career. Alan Garcia was aboard for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin as Muhaawara ran one mile, 70 yards in 1:43.43 and paid $10, $4.10 and $2.40.
Check Point returned $2.90 and $2.10. Wind Caper, the 6-5 favorite, paid $2.10 to show.
Earlier on the card, Red's Round Table beat Play With Me by a nose to win the $60,000 Only Queens Stakes for 2-year-old fillies. Joe Rocco Jr. rode for trainer Timothy Keefe as Red's Round Table paid $7 to win.
