Zealous Boy wins Aqueduct feature
December 9, 2010NEW YORK (AP) - Zealous Boy beat Digger Karakorum by 41/2 lengths Wednesday in the $42,000 allowance feature for New York breds at Aqueduct.
A switch back to dirt worked out for Zealous Boy after three straight third-place finishes, all on grass. A gray 3-year-old trained by Peter Kazamias, Zealous Boy finished the six furlongs in 1:10.76 on the fast track.
The race was marred by a spill in which stablemates Reading Group and Aheadofthejoneses both fell on the turn after colliding. Doast, running just behind the incident, was walked off the track. Reading Group ran off; Aheadofthejoneses was removed in an equine ambulance.
There were no reports of serious injuries to the three riders.
Zealous Boy, with Ramon Dominguez aboard, paid $7.70, $5.10 and $3.10. Digger Karakorum returned $15.60 and $6.20. Pete's Parley paid $2.40 to show.
