Washington Bridge wins Bayakoa Handicap
December 6, 2010INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -Washington Bridge rallied from last in the final eighth of a mile to win the $150,000 Bayakoa Handicap at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Washington Bridge ran 1 1-16 miles on the synthetic Cushion Track in 1:44.25 and paid $12, $6.40 and $4.40. It was the third win in a row for the 3-year-old filly who is trained and co-owned by Jerry Hollendorfer.
Sister Dawn, who led by 2 1/2 lengths with a furlong to go Sunday, returned $13.40 and $7. Zardana, the 2-1 wagering favorite and defending champion, was another length back in third and paid $3.20 to show.
Trainer Bob Baffert saddled the 2,000th winner of his Hall of Fame career when Free Pourin won the third race.
