Jockey Alan Garcia wins both Big A stakes
December 6, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -Alan Garcia rode a pair of long-shot winners in the $65,000 stakes for New York bred 2-year-olds at Aqueduct on Sunday.
Garcia led Queen's Harbor, a 26-1 choice, in the East View for fillies. Five races later, Garcia guided Beau de Beaupre to a 10-1 triumph in the Damn Runyon.
Queen's Harbor, trained by Rick Violette, improved to 2 for 6 with her front-running win. She beat Miss Valentine, the 4-5 favorite, by 4 1/2 lengths. The time was 1:44.11 for the 1 mile, 70 yards.
Beau de Beaupre, trained by Jimmy Jerkins is 2 for 6 after beating Artie Luvsto Party by a half-length. The time was 1:45.33.
