Birdrun wins Carl Rose Classic at Calder
November 14, 2010MIAMI (AP) -Birdrun beat Duke of Mischief by 4 1/2 lengths Saturday in the $150,000 Carl Rose Classic, the finale of Calder's eight-race Florida Million for Florida-bred horses.
Ridden by Rajiv Maragh, the 4-year-old Birdrun ran 1 1-8 miles in 1:54 2-5 and paid $4.60, $2.60 and $2.20 for his fifth victory in 15 starts. Duke of Mischief returned $2.20 and $2.10, and Dream Maestro paid $3.
Joanie's Catch rallied to win the Heubeck Distaff, Manicero took the Jack Price Juvenile, Devlish Lady ran away with the Joe O'Farrell Juvenile Fillies, Pickapocket won the Bonnie Heath Turf Cup, Tackleberry took the Jack Dudley Sprint Handicap, Racing Aptitude won the Appleton Juvenile Turf, and Saksa Bullet took the John Franks Juvenile Fillies Turf.
