Jockey Albarado rides 900th winner at Churchill.
November 13, 2010LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Jockey Robby Albarado rode his 900th career winner at Churchill Downs, guiding Strike Impact to a front-running win in the sixth race Friday.
Albarado leads the jockeys' standings with 14 wins through the first nine days of the fall meet.
The 37-year-old rider became the fifth jockey in track history to reach 900 wins. Albarado has been riding regularly at Churchill since 1996.
In Friday's $55,440 feature, Mahindar led all the way to win by 1 3/4 lengths in the 5-furlong sprint for fillies and mares. Ridden by Calvin Borel, Mahindar finished in 56.81 and paid $12.40 to win.
